SPECIAL MEETING – January 26, 2013
Board Planning Session


The Board of Education met in special session in the Cafeteria at Reagan Middle School on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 9:00 a.m.  Notification of the meeting together with an agenda and other Board material had been mailed on Thursday, January 24, 2013 to the individual Board members and news media.

In the absence of Mr. Sward, Secretary, Ms. Pam Tourtillott was appointed Secretary Pro-Tem.

Present:   Mr. Tom Balser, President; Mr. Tom LeMoine, Vice-President; Mr. Woody Lenox, Mr. Jim Schielein, Ms. Pam Tourtillott and Mr. John Jacobs

Electronically Present:  None

Absent: Mr. Kevin Sward


Also Present:    Mr. Michael Juenger, Superintendent; Mrs. Margo Empen, Assistant Superintendent; Mr. Dave Blackburn, Business Manager; Mr. Kevin Schultz, Buildings and Grounds Director; Dr. Michael Grady, Principal, Dixon High School; Mr. Andy Bullock, Principal, Reagan Middle School; Mr. Jeff Gould, Principal, Jefferson School, Ms. Susan Johnson, Principal, Lincoln School; Mr. Dan Rick, Principal, Washington School, Mr. Chris Tennyson, Assistant Principal, Dixon High School; Ms. Karen Price, Assistant Principal, Dixon High School; Mr. Matt Magnafici, Assistant Principal, Reagan Middle School and several teachers and members of the community.

DISCUSSION

The Board met with administration to review District goals, discuss financial projections, buildings and grounds, and transportation recommendations. 

Staff recommendations were put on hold until the February 27, 2013 meeting.  During the four hour meeting the Board thoroughly discussed the financial picture of the District moving forward.  Mr. Juenger explained that the financial information from the meeting is on the District website. 
The work being considered at Reagan Middle School dominated the buildings and grounds portion of the meeting. 

It was also determined that the Board would solicit bids for transportation and eliminate at least one route for the 2013-14 school year.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Ms. Tourtillott, seconded by Mr. Jacobs, to adjourn at 1:00 p.m. By voice vote, motion unanimously approved.

 

 

Dixon Public Schools, in cooperation with the community, will provide students with a comprehensive educational program that produces well-educated, self-sufficient, and involved citizens.
