Dixon School District Residents,

The recent events at city hall has given us all reason for pause.  The purpose of this message is to assure you that as a school district we have and we are taking measures to protect the District from being defrauded and have proper protocol in place to minimize exposure.
Attached is our Internal Control Plan, the most recent Financial Reimbursement Information System (FRIS)inquiry and the latest Final Settlement Sheets from Lee and Ogle Counties.
The Internal Control Plan explains our protocols and identifies by position who is responsible for the execution of the plan.  The protocols meet with the approval of our Auditor and general accounting practices.
FRIS is the system that the Illinois State Board of Education uses to notify school districts of the status of their reimbursements.  The information is available to anyone who has access to the Internet.  Go to the ISBE's web page and click on the "FRIS Inquiry" tab at the top of the page and then follow the directions.  When reviewing the report you will see that other than the General State Aid funding, the payment for the other accounts are  about 4 months behind.  The District actually does not receive the funding until a couple of days after it has been processed by the Comptroller.  Those funds are received by electronic transfer.
The District also receives local dollars based upon the property taxes paid by the residents of the School District.  Attached are the latest Settlement Sheets from Lee and Ogle counties. Those payments have been made in full.  The District's information can be found on-line at the Lee County website under "Lee County Settlement Sheets".  Click on "final settlement" and scroll down to Dixon PSUD 170.
The School District does not receive any funding directly from the city.
The Budget and the Annual Financial Report are located on the District's website click on District, News and Information, Finance.
