Catch the Fever...Support Dixon Athletics

A letter from Laura Sward, President of the Dixon Booster Club

Have you seen it? Have you heard it? The challenge has been made to all of us, now the question is, what will you do about it? The challenge I'm referring to- "What will you do to support athletics in Dixon Schools?"

School has begun and students are once again filling the classrooms and hallways, but for the athletes of Dixon Schools, they never stopped attending school. I'm sure you've seen these athletes; they're out running the streets of Dixon in the summer heat, lifting hundreds of pounds of weights in the weight room; pushing themselves to better their personal best, and attending any one of the camps offered during the summer months. For these young people, the season knows no end. Now that school has begun the demands are even greater. Stringent academic and moral requirements, on top of the rigors of countless hours of training, all for the "love of the sport." At this time, Dixon High School has approximately 225 student athletes participating in fall sports. I'm sure that each of you know at least one of these student athletes.

I believe that athletics is an important investment in our children and our community. These sporting events generate publicity for the school, provide an opportunity for friends, neighbors and even total strangers to come together for the common cause...to share in the experience and excitement of the game!

So again, my question to you is€¦ "What will you do to support athletics in Dixon Schools?" I challenge you! Give us a sign, to show your support. To each of you, I say "come spend an evening with us." I can promise you an exciting game, enthusiastic fans, fellowship with friends and neighbors, and who knows, you might run into someone you either played with or against.
