7:00 p.m. ~ Washington School Library

Members in Attendance:    Principal Rick, Principal Gould, Carol Richardson, Jodi Kelly, Nikki Kratzner, Brandi Snyder, Amanda Thomas, Mariann Biggs, Diana Morley, Kathy Morrison, Judy Fane, Vanessa Ankney, Brenda Drezen, Marce Piller, Ben Kratzner, Brenda Brown, Stacie McCullough, Jennifer Johnston, and Kim Munson.

The Secretary’s Report was approved as written.
The Treasurer’s Report was approved as written.

The PTO officers have chosen a revised “Request for Funds” form.  The purpose of the revised form is to establish a consistent protocol for each school and all staff members, in regards to requesting funds from PTO.  We are asking that, beginning next school year, teachers bring tentative field trip ideas and money amounts needed for the field trips to the PTO by October 31 of each year.  It is understood that plans may change; however, our goal is to have a good idea of the financial contributions which will be needed for spring field trips, so that we may have an accurate idea of how much money we have to spend on other requests throughout the school year.  Requests for other projects, besides field trips, are due one month before the event.  Forms will be distributed to each elementary school, and they may be available on the Teacher’s portion of the district website as well.

The Teachers’ Luncheon will be on Friday, 5/6 at each elementary school.  Vanessa Ankney will order sandwiches, chips and condiments from Oliver’s.  Social chairs from each school will contact parent volunteers to donate salads and desserts.  Donations are due to school by 10:00 a.m. that day.

First-grade teachers requested $880.80 for the field trip to Distinctive Gardens and Lowell Park.  This will cover bussing costs; there are no entrance fees.  Funded by unanimous vote.

Fifth-grade teachers requested $636 for the White Pines roller skating and picnic field trip.  This will cover entrance fees; bussing costs are covered by another source.  Funded by unanimous vote.

Fifth-grade teachers requested $500 for rewards for their PBIS system.  Discussion was held, and concerns were heard, as to how PBIS is implemented at each school.  It was suggested that school staff and PTO work together to find a way that parents can have a voice in district discussions regarding PBIS policies.  After much discussion, this was also funded by unanimous vote.

Mr. Thorpe, PE teacher at Jefferson, requested $1,300 for scooters.  Funded by unanimous vote.

Principal Gould requested $2,728 for math interventions for 4th and 5th grade students.  Funded by unanimous vote.

Principal Gould requested $1,158 for two Elmo projectors for 4th and 5th grades.  Funded by unanimous vote.

Washington School was offered $1,158 for two Elmo projectors for Kindergarten and first grades.  Funded by unanimous vote.

Washington School requested $2,500 for their annual “Author Speak” for May, 2012.  This request was tabled until next fall, at which time we will see our financial tallies after field trips are accounted for.

After our March meeting, we received a request for $138 for a reading celebration at Jefferson School.  This was funded without waiting for the April meeting, due to confusion regarding the protocol of requesting funds.

PTO Officers for 2011 – 2012 were appointed as follows: Vanessa Ankney ~ President and Jefferson School Representative; Nikki Lovett ~ Washington School Representative; Brenda Brown ~ Lincoln School Representative; Nikki Kratzner ~ Treasurer; Stacie McCullough ~ Secretary; and Marce Piller & Jodi Kelly ~ Fundraiser Co-Chairs.  We will elect Social Chairs for each school at our first meeting next fall.

There will be no May meeting; therefore, our next meeting will be in September.  Please watch notes sent home next fall for the exact date!
