Black History Bookmark Contest Print

The DHS Library held a bookmark contest in honor of Black History Month. The contest asked students to create a bookmark that pays tribute to Black History Month or represents something from Black History.  There were 27 entries into the contest and all the entries are on display in the DHS library. Katy Demko was the winner and she received a Subway gift card. Her bookmark was also reproduced and is being distributed to library patrons.

Dixon Public School's music teachers Steve Boll and Ruth Johnson were recognized for their "25 years of dedicated music teaching" at the Opening Session of the Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria, Illinois on January 26, 2012.  Keynote speaker was Lieutenant Governor, Sheila Simon.  Pictured from L-R, Deb Shofner, IMEA President Elect, Steve Boll, Dixon High School Band Instructor, Roseanne Rosenthal, IMEA State President, Ruth Johnson, Reagan Middle School Band Instructor, John Heath, IMEA Past President.

Dixon High School is proud to release the names of the students who have been selected to the September Hall of Fame.  Students are selected monthly from various departments because they displayed one or more of the following characteristics:  1) consistent hard work and effort, 2) outstanding attitude toward the subject, 3) leadership, and/or 4) class participation. Congratulations to the following students for being selected by their teachers this month for the Student Hall of Fame:

The scholarships listed below are those that were available on 12/15/2011. Check back weekly for an updated listing. Before applying for any of the scholarships below please complete and print out the general information form to be turned in with any completed application.

IL General Assembly
Deadline: March 23, 2012
The Illinois General Assembly Scholarship is available to seniors who have been accepted to a 4 year public university in Illinois (Western, Northern, Eastern, Illinois State, University of Illinois, etc.). Applications are in the G.O. and are due by March 23, 2012.

University of IL – Child of Veteran
Deadline: March 1, 2012
There is a scholarship available for any senior who is a child of a veteran and is planning to attend any one of the University of Illinois campuses. The scholarship is for full tuition and is renewable. See the GO for more information or go to www.osfa.illinois.edu.
