The Dixon High School Key Club sent eleven members to the District Convention & Leadership Conference in Peoria Illinois over the past weekend. The convention was held at the Four Points Hotel from Friday through Sunday with hundreds of Key Club members from across Illinois and Eastern Iowa in attendance. The weekend was full of activities including the training of new officers, the election of new District officers, educational and inspirational activities, and the sharing ideas, projects, and experiences. The District Convention also set aside time to recognize outstanding club service during the year. The Dixon High School Key Club was awarded 1st place for highest individual donation for Spastic Paralysis, and 1st place for highest increase in donation for a one-year period.
Contrary to popular belief, the Key Club does not make keys, they make leaders. Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is a student-led organization whose goal is to teach leadership through serving others. The kind and caring members of this club work to transform their school and community. Every year, the DHS Key Club is involved with many activities including the Kreider Halloween Party, Dixon Petunia Festival, Lincoln Discovery Night, the Cemetery Walk, Fun Fair, Relay for Life, Autism Babysitting, and much more! Key Club core values include: caring, character building, inclusiveness, and leadership. If you have a service project that you would like help with, contact Mr. Eastman.

Dixon Public Schools, in cooperation with the community, will provide students with a comprehensive educational program that produces well-educated, self-sufficient, and involved citizens.
