Thought for the Day: The past cannot be changed; the future is still in your power.

1. Our server was down over the weekend, which has since been fixed, so the deadline for homecoming eligibility has been extended to the end of the day on Thursday, September 22nd.

2. Students must have their ID cards to use the computers in the Library.

3. All Students – Officer LaMendola and the Dixon Police Department want to remind you to use the crosswalks during lunch and before and after school. They will be issuing tickets to students who do not cross in the marked areas.

4. Dixon Pride Team would like to congratulate Mrs. Bennett and Catie Cox, winners of the Culver’s Pride Award last week. They would also like to congratulate Mrs. Bally’s and Mrs. Koch’s 1st period class for no tardies last week. Remember to nominate students and staff you see go above and beyond for DHS. The nomination box is in the main office.

5. The PSAT test will be given Tuesday, October 12th at the Loveland Community Building. Juniors may sign up in the Guidance Office and pay the $16 fee.

6. The Homecoming Dance will be October 8th. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale starting this week in the cafeteria. There are no ticket sales the week of Homecoming. Under no circumstances will there be any tickets sold at the door. Repeat, no tickets sold at the door! If you have an out of school or out of town guest, you must get a Dance Guest Pass. You can pick the guest pass up when you buy your ticket or you can find it online at the school’s website. It must be turned into the office the Monday of Homecoming week. If it isn’t handed in, the guest will not be allowed to go. The dance is from 8:00 until 11:00 with the doors opening at 7:30. All students and guests must have id’s. All students and guests must be to the dance by 9:00 or they will not be allowed in. Once you leave, you will not be allowed back into the dance. The announcement of the Homecoming court will be approximately 9:15. Students, you may nominate your classmates to be on the Homecoming Court in the main office. Please be sure not to sign up someone who is already on the list. Senior servant sign up is in room 305. You can only sign up before or after school. There is a limited number students allowed to be servants, first come, first served.

7. Youth Outlook is opening a new LGBT drop-in center in Sterling beginning October 6th, then every Thursday. Ages 14-18 are welcome. For more information, come to the Guidance Office.

Dixon Public Schools, in cooperation with the community, will provide students with a comprehensive educational program that produces well-educated, self-sufficient, and involved citizens.
