Thought for the Day: Live your life by choice, not chance.

1. Are you looking for a job? A local business is looking for a junior or senior who is available for work every afternoon. This opportunity could turn into long term, full-time employment. For more details, see Mr. Eddy in room 305.

2. LONDON FOR SPRING BREAK: There is still time to sign up for the April trip to London. Interested students should see Mr. Padilla in Room 405 for information, and students not signed up should sign up before Oct 31. The price will DRASTICALLY increase after Nov 1.

3. The 3 on 3 tournament for this Friday has been cancelled due to lack of registration. If you have registered, please see Coach Mead Thursday or Friday to get your money back.

4. There will be a mandatory boys' basketball informational meeting for all players and their parents on Sunday night, October 30, at 6:00pm in Lancaster Gymnasium. See Coach Mead for more details.

5. Sign up for wrestling will be after school this Friday in the wrestling room. If you are unable to make it, stop by the AD's office.

6. Anyone interested in participating in Boy’s Track next spring should attend an informational meeting Friday, October 28th at 2:25 in Coach Luther’s room 212. Please bring something to write with.

7. Students will not be allowed to charge more than two lunches in the cafeteria.

8. The Elks Club is offering scholarships to children or grand-children of Elks members. Go to www.elks.org/enf/scholars for more information. The National Elks Foundation is offering a Most Valuable Student scholarship. Applications are in the Guidance Office.

9. Hey DHS musically inclined students – The class officers are hosting a Battle of the Bands! Sign up and money are due by November 11th.

10.The Dixon High School Math Team will have an informational meeting on Monday, October 31st after school in Room 303. If you are unable to attend, please stop by to speak with Mrs. Anderson.

11.Attention Cross-Country Team – The team dinner is tonight at 5:30 at Kate Johnson’s house. Bus time for the Sectional on Saturday is 7:15 a.m. All F/S and JV runners are encouraged to attend.

12.Varsity Volleyball players - Please turn in uniforms to the AD’s office asap. Also, sophomore Volleyball players are to turn in saver cards and money to the AD’s office.

13.Sauk Valley College will host a College Night on Tuesday, November 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the West Mall. Over 80 reps from colleges, technical schools and the military will be available to answer your questions. There will be a Financial Aid presentation at 6:00 in room 1K4.

14.The American Legion Auxiliary is offering a scholarship to the child or grand-childof a veteran who served through 1990 and is a member of the American Legion. Applications are in the G.O. They are also offering a scholarship for a student entering the nursing field.
