Thought for the Day: Teachers open the doo, but you must enter on your own.

1. There will be a mandatory boys' basketball informational meeting for all players and their parents on Sunday night, October 30, at 6:00pm in Lancaster Gymnasium. See Coach Mead for more details.

2. The Elks Club is offering scholarships to children or grand-children of Elks members. Go to www.elks.org/enf/scholars for more information. The National Elks Foundation is offering a Most Valuable Student scholarship. Applications are in the Guidance Office.

3. Hey DHS musically inclined students – The class officers are hosting a Battle of the Bands! Sign up and money are due by November 11th.

4. The Dixon High School Math Team will have an informational meeting on Monday, October 31st after school in Room 303. If you are unable to attend, please stop by to speak with Mrs. Anderson.

5. Attention Cross-Country Team – Bus time for the Sectional on Saturday is 7:15 a.m. All F/S and JV runners are encouraged to attend.

6. Varsity Volleyball players - Please turn in uniforms to the AD’s office asap. Also, sophomore Volleyball players are to turn in saver cards and money to the AD’s office.

7. The economics class participated in the Sauk Valley Titan Competition. It was a very close match and one DHS team advanced to the scholarship round. The team of Kevin Heath, Roy Hummel, Justin Hohlen, and Jordan Lorenz advanced to the scholarship round in the Quad Cities where they will compete for scholarship money. Congratulations to all the teams. You represented our school well!

8. Sauk Valley College will host a College Night on Tuesday, November 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the West Mall. Over 80 reps from colleges, technical schools and the military will be available to answer your questions. There will be a Financial Aid presentation at 6:00 in room 1K4.

9. Plan to attend the DHS Fall Play this weekend. Check Please , will be at 7:00 tonight and Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

10.The American Legion Auxiliary is offering a scholarship to the child or grand-child of a veteran who served through 1990 and is a member of the American Legion. Applications are in the G.O. They are also offering a scholarship for a student entering the nursing field.

Sign up for wrestling will be after school today in the wrestling room. If you are unable to make it, stop by the AD's office.

Anyone interested in participating in Boy’s Track next spring should attend an informational meeting today at 2:25 in Coach Luther’s room 212. Please bring something to write with.
