Thought for the Day: Don’t ruin your today by worrying about tomorrow.

1. Eligibility for the “Winter Formal” dance will be run this Thursday. You must be passing 5 classes to attend. The dance is for DHS students only.No guests will be allowed. Tickets will go on sale Monday, 12/12 to Monday, 12/19 in in the cafeteria during lunches and after school in front of the main office. The cost is $10 a couple and $7 a single.

2. There is a scholarship available for a senior, planning to major in engineering, who has earned a 3.0 or higher GPA, an ACT score of 29 or higher in Math and 25 or higher in English or an SAT score of 600 or above in Math and 500 or above in Verbal. Applications are available in the GO and are due January 13th, 2012.

3. There is more retro sportswear available for sale in the Activities Office. Stop in and check it out.

4. Student Council is sponsoring our annual Mitten Tree. It is located in the cafeteria. You may donate any new or lightly used mittens, scarves, or stocking hats. All donations will go to people in the Dixon area who are in need of these items this winter season. You can give all the way up to December 16th.

5. Congratulations to Michael Barth and Michael Rivera who were selected at the State level for choir! They will attend the Music Educators Convention in January, and will be participating in the Honors Choir – the very top ensemble! Way to go Michael & Michael – excellent representation for DHS!

Scholastic Bowl team members are reminded that the bus to Kaneland is leaving at 2:45 today from the cafeteria lot.
