Thought for the Day: We can accomplish a lot if we don’t worry about who get the credit.

1. Student Council is sponsoring our annual Mitten Tree. It is located in the cafeteria. You may donate any new or lightly used mittens, scarves, or stocking hats. All donations will go to people in the Dixon area who are in need of these items this winter season. You can give all the way up to December 16th.

2. The Illinois PTA is offering a scholarship to a senior in the top 1/3 of their class who is preparing to enter an education- related degree program that requires certification by the State Board of Education. Applications are in the G.O.

3. The Illinois General Assembly Scholarship is available to seniors who have been accepted to a 4 year public university (Western, Northern, Eastern, Illinois State, University of Illinois, etc.). Applications are in the G.O. and are due by March 23, 2012.

4. Seniors – Pay close attention to due dates on applications and scholarships. Please allow time for transcripts and recommendations to be prepared.

5. There is a scholarship available for any senior who is a child of a veteran, and is planning to attend any one of the University of Illinois campuses. The scholarship is for full tuition and is renewable. See the GO for more information or go to www.osfa.illinois.edu .

7. BLIND Leaders: please see Mr. Padilla in Room 405 as soon as possible if you want to order a DHS BLIND t-shirt.

8. Students who owe more than $4 in the cafeteria will not be allowed to eat until they pay their balance.

9. The Choir Department will present its annual Holiday Concert, on Thursday, December 15th, at 7pm. This year will be our 6th year collecting Toys for Tots. There will be a donation barrel in the main office till the time of the concert

10. Dixon Pride would like to recognize Marcia Mintun and Alex Moser with the Culver’s Award for going above and beyond this past week.

Dixon Public Schools, in cooperation with the community, will provide students with a comprehensive educational program that produces well-educated, self-sufficient, and involved citizens.
