Thought for the Day: Many a person has failed because he had a wishbone where his backbone should have been.

1. The Boy’s Track team is selling lollipops until Valentine’s Day. They are .75 for 1 or 2 for $1. Get yours before they are gone!

2. DHS Sophomore class officers will be having the annual Flowers for a Friend fundraiser. Flowers will be sold February 6-10, and delivered on Valentine’s Day. White for a friend, pink for a crush and red for someone you love. Make sure to buy a flower for that special someone!

3. There will be an open gym for any girl interested in playing soccer on Friday, February 10th in the big gym. NOTE: The time has been changed to 5:30-7:30. Please remember to bring tennis shoes and shin guards.

4. The library will be hosting an Origami Workshop on February 16th during lunchtimes. Please stop by and sign-up.

5. Student Council is sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins Dance Friday, February 17th after the boy’s home basketball game. Come enjoy fun under the black lights! The dance begins after the game, approximately 9:00 and gets over at 11:00. Tickets are sold at the door to DHS students only, sorry no out of town or out of school guests! You must have a student id to get in. Cost is $2 per person. Traditionally girls are supposed to ask the guys to the dance and wear matching shirts! Hope to see you there! 

6. Sophomores can sign up for the Whiteside tour in the Guidance Office. The tour will be Friday, February 24th from 8-9:30.

7. Hey DHS – Do you have talent? Then come and participate in the annual DHS Variety Show! Sign-ups are outside Mr. Boll’s room. The Variety Show will be March 16th.

8. There are 2 new scholarships. The Township Officials of Illinois are offering a scholarship to a senior with at least a 3.00 gpa who plans to attend school within the State of Illinois. Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2012. The Rock River Trail and Horseman Association are offering a scholarship to a senior who will be seeking a degree in equine, Veterinary or Ag-related field. The deadline is April 1, 2012. Applications are in the Guidance Office.

9. Boy's interested in going out for Tennis this Spring should sign up in the Athletic Office. Questions? See Coach Boll in room 134 before or after school.

10.Congratulations to Katy Demko, winner of the Black History Month bookmark contest sponsored by the Library. She receives a gift certificate from Subway! Stop by the library and see the creative art work of our DHS Students!
