1. Friday is the last day to order Flowers for a Friend.

2. There will be open gym for any girl interested in playing soccer on Friday, in the big gym from 5:30-7:30.

3. The library will be hosting an Origami Workshop on February 16th during lunchtimes. Please stop by and sign-up.

3. Student Council is sponsoring a Sadie Hawkins Dance on Friday, February 17th after the boy’s home basketball game. Come enjoy fun under the black lights! The dance begins after the game, approximately 9:00 and gets over at 11:00. Tickets are sold at the door to DHS students only, sorry no out of town or out of school guests! You must have a student id to get in. Cost is $2 per person. Traditionally girls are supposed to ask the guys to the dance and wear matching shirts! Hope to see you there! 

4. Sophomores can sign up for the Whiteside tour in the Guidance Office. The tour will be Friday, February 24th from 8-9:30.

5. Hey DHS – Do you have talent? Then come and participate in the annual DHS Variety Show! Sign-ups are outside Mr. Boll’s room. The Variety Show will be March 16th.

6. There are 2 new scholarships. The Township Officials of Illinois are offering a scholarship to a senior with at least a 3.00 gpa who plans to attend school within the State of Illinois. Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2012. The Rock River Trail and Horseman Association are offering a scholarship to a senior who will be seeking a degree in equine, Veterinary or Ag-related field. The deadline is April 1, 2012. Applications are in the Guidance Office.

7. Boy's interested in going out for Tennis this Spring should sign up in the Athletic Office. Questions? See Coach Boll in room 134 before or after school.

8. Students are reminded not to litter or throw their lunch trash out of their cars at noon. The administration will be assigning detentions if you are seen doing this.

9. National Honor Society applications are due Friday.

10.The Dixon High School Band will perform a Winter Concert this Sunday, February 12th, at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The RMS Patriot Band will also be performing several selections and will combine with the high school band for two final encores. Please come and support our music department.

11.Freshmen are to report to the auditorium at 7:50 a.m. Friday to receive registration materials.

12.Fresh/Soph members of the scholastic bowl team are reminded of this Saturday's NIB 12 fresh/soph conference meet at LaSalle Peru. The bus will leave from the cafeteria parking lot at 7:15 a.m. See Mr. Padilla in Room 405 if you CANNOT attend.
