Thought for the Day: A closed mouth catches no feet.

1. PARIS SPRING BREAK 2013: If you are interested in traveling to Paris, France for Spring Break 2013, please see Mr. Padilla in Room 405.  Students who sign up by April 30 will receive a $100 discount!

2. Seniors – Sauk Valley College will be at DHS on Tuesday, May 1st to register students for next year. You must sign up for an appointment in the G.O.

3. A $500 scholarship is available in the GO for seniors with a 2.5 GPA or higher. The Ray Thompson Scholarship will be awarded to a senior who will be enrolled part-time or full-time at a 2-year, 4-year, or trade school. Preference will be given to students who show financial need and archery knowledge. 

4. The Dixon Lioness Club is sponsoring a scholarship for a senior who plans to major in Special Education. The scholarship is for $1000. Applications are available online and are due April 28th.

5. Summer School will be offered June 8 through June 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. If enough students sign up, classes will be offered in Algebra 1, English and APEX classes. The cost is $110.00 per class. There will be no waiver of fees. Money must be turned in with applications. Forms are in the Guidance Office.

6. The Lee County Republican Central Committee is offering a scholarship to a student who has been involved in public service and civic affairs and will be enrolled as a full-time student in college. Applications are on the school’s website.

7. Who will wear the crown? The Mr. School competition is Friday, May 11th. If you are interested in competing for this acclaimed crown, see Mr. Eddy in room 305. There are only so many spots, so sign up now! 

8. If you are interested in running for a Student Council officer position, see Mr. Eddy in room 305 for a petition. Signed petitions are due to Mr. Eddy by Friday, April 27th.

9. The DHS Softball team is selling wrist bands to show support for Sarah Schnake  and her family. “Sarah’s Fight Club” wrist bands are $10 each and are available in the main office or from a softball player.

10.The Library will be closed Tuesday, April 24th from 9:45 - 12:45.

11.We now have T-shirts to help support Sarah Schnake in her fight against cancer. They are $15.00 and in two colors. See Katie Miller

12.Freshmen and Sophomores - Please check the display case outside the main office today for your assigned room to take the PLAN test Tuesday morning.

13.Tomorrow (4.24.12) we will be on a revised schedule. Freshmen and Sophomores will take the PLAN test at 7:50am.  Regular classes for Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors will start at 10:23 with shortened class periods.

Juniors and Seniors should be released at 1:55 today for a brief PSAE assembly.

Police Explorers will meet tonight at 6:00 at the Police Department.
