Thought for the Day: Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

1. Any student who was on the Honor Roll can pick up one free Rockford IceHogs ticket in the Guidance Office.

2. Attention 2011 Juniors! Orders may be placed for our very own “purple storm” t-shirts. Contact your junior class officers if you are interested. Show your class spirit by purchasing one! Remember – The storm is on the horizon!

3. The Dixon Petunia Festival committee is accepting applications for Petunia Festival Royalty and Pinky Petunia. Juniors must be willing to give of their time freely during the Petunia Festival and must live in Dixon. Applications are in the main office.

4. There are several scholarships for seniors who are planning on majoring in agriculture. Stop by the Guidance Office for more information.

5. Any student who is not in Consumer Ed or Economics can sign up to take the Consumer Ed Proficiency test on February 2nd at 2:20 p.m. in room 121. Sign up in the Guidance Office.

6. The Boy’s Basketball game on Saturday at United Township will be at 5:00 p.m. Bus time is 2:15 p.m.

7. Attention Freshmen and Sophomore baseball players not out for a winter sport – Pre-season workouts and open gyms are currently in swing. Workouts are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 4:30/5:00, and Sunday from 12:30-2:30. If you have any questions, see Coach Crawford or Coach Burgess.

8. National Honor Society will meet Monday at 7:20 a.m. in room 100.

9. Seniors – Be sure to order your senior t-shirt, Money is due February 24th.

10.KSB Hospital is offering several scholarships to seniors who will be entering a health-related field. Go to www.ksbhospital.com for applications. The deadline is March 15, 2010. Rock River Valley Vietnow is offering a scholarship. Applicants must write an essay and priority is given to relatives of veterans or members of Vietnow. Applications are in the Guidance Office and the deadline is April 1, 2010.

11.The D2 Pride Store is open every Tuesday and Thursday for school supplies and school clothing. The Nike sweatpants have arrived, so check out these great sweatpants. We are stocked up on the short and long sleeve cotton t-shirts that sell for $8 and $10. If you want to keep warm during these cold days, we are having a sale on fleece hats for $12 and scarves for $18. Each are black fleece with the Dixon logo stitched on them. You can always lay away items if you don’t have funds that day. Come see us in the cafeteria at 7:15 – 7:45 and 2:20-2:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

12.The DHS Key Club is asking for your help to donate to the PADS Shelter. We are collecting soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, etc. Any travel, hotel or sample sized toiletries will be accepted. Boxes for your donations are located in the main office and at the YMCA.
