Thought for the Day: You can knock the chip off someone’s shoulder by patting them on the back.

1. Juniors – T-shirt order forms and money are due Friday, February 5th. Turn everything in to Mabel, Alejandro, Matt or the main office ASAP.

2. Juniors – Pick up Petunia Festival Royalty applications in the main office.

3. Seniors – Be sure to order your senior t-shirt. Extra order forms are in the main office and are due with money by February 24th . Turn in to the main office or band room.

4. KSB Hospital is offering several scholarships to seniors who will be entering a health-related field. Go to www.ksbhospital.com for applications. The deadline isMarch 15, 2010. Rock River Valley Vietnow is offering a scholarship. Applicants must write an essay and priority is given to relatives of veterans or members of Vietnow. Applications are in the Guidance Office and the deadline is April 1, 2010.

5. We will be having a Black History Month Contest during the month of February. 1st place will be $25, 2nd place $15, 3rd place $10. Pick up an informational packet in the library, and choose a format of poetry, short story, informative essay or 2D art. Turn in your entry to the library, Ms Fort or Mr. Stanley by Wednesday, February 17th. Results will be revealed Friday, February 19th.
Today’s trivia question is: Name the African American who invented the traffic signal. Take your answers to the main office. We will announce the winners on Friday.

6. The KSB-DHS Business Partnership is again offering scholarships to seniors who are interested in pursuing a medically related career. The deadline for applications is March 15th. See Mr. Cahill in room 121 for an application.

7. The Second Look Prom & Homecoming Dress Sale is February 27th. Donate your gently used dresses to Mrs. Hermes in the G.O.

8. Flowers for a Friend – The DHS Class Officers are currently selling flowers during lunch for the next two weeks and after school next week until Thursday. You can buy one for $1 or six for $5.

9. Information on the Dixon Roller Hockey and Slow-Pitch Summer Softball Programs is available in the main office and the A.D.’s office.

10. The Cheerleader’s Guy/Girl Dance is this Thursday at half-time of the Girl’s Varsity Basketball game against LaSalle-Peru. Everyone come & watch! The game starts at 7:30 p.m. 

11. Boys interested in going out for the tennis team this Spring should sign up in the Athletic Office. If you have any questions, see Coach Boll in room 134 before or after school.
