Thought for the Day: You will never get ahead as long as you’re trying to get even.

1. The DHS Class Officers will be hosting a Rummage Sale on March 20th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the DHS cafeteria. Bring your items to the cafeteria today from 2:30 – 6:00.

2. Summer Driver’s Ed will begin Thursday, March 25th. Students who will be 15 by July 31, 2010 may sign up in the Guidance Office. Students must have passed 8 classes in the previous 2 semesters to take the class. Any questions see Mr. Fiorini.

3. March Scholastic book orders are available until March 24th. Forms can be picked up in the library. Orders are now available to be placed online. Many newly published books are being offered.

4. Congratulations to the 2010 DHS Environthon team. The team competed Tuesday in Freeport against nearly 40 other teams and won first place! Team members are William Moser, Jon Boynton, Nate Kruger, Alyson Radeke and Amanda Lathe. Way to go!

5. Who will wear the crown? The Mr. School competition is Friday, April 23rd. If you are interested in competing for this acclaimed crown, see Mr. Eddy next week to sign up. There are only so many spots, so sign up now.

6. Eligibility for Prom will be run on Friday, March 26th. Students must be passing 5 of 7 classes. If a student is enrolled in 5 classes, they must be passing 4 classes, 4 classes, they must be passing 3. If a student is not passing the required number of classes, they will not be allowed to attend Prom.

7. Congratulations to the DHS Big Read Poetry and Short Story Contest. Poetry Finalists, Jordin Faley, Mercedes Garcia, Alyssa Moser, Braeden Kurzrock, Samantha Sneek. Poetry Winners, Rebecca Hatheway, Tess Lally, Hannah Sharkey. Short Story Winners , Brian Guttman, Kristin Swanson. Congratulations to all!

8. There is a $100 scholarship available to a student who will be entering an accredited school program leading to an aerospace occupation (commercial pilot or mechanic).

9. Attention Peer Jurors – Our next hearing is scheduled for Sunday, March 28th. If you are able to attend, please sign up in the Guidance Office. Please be at the Police Dept. by 5:00 p.m.

10.All students who drive to school – It doesn’t matter where you park your car, it must be registered in the main office.

11.A reminder to all members of BLIND – Rock Falls High School is hosting a get together this Sunday from 3 to 5 in the RFHS gymnasium on W. 2nd St. in Rock Falls. Please try to attend.
