Thought for the Day: A skeptic is a person who, when he sees the writing on the wall, claims it is a forgery.

1. The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered Wednesday, October 13th at the Loveland Community Building. This is a preliminary SAT and it is the first step for juniors to enter the National Merit Scholarship competition for scholarships and recognition. All interested juniors can sign up with Mrs. Bellows and pay the $16 fee (check please) before Tuesday, October 5th. There is a limit of 50 students.

2. Scholastic book orders are available in the library. Orders are due by 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

3. Seniors are to meet in the auditorium Friday at 7:45 a.m.

4. The Dixon Golf Team defeated Streator Monday. Congratulations to Mitch Homb and Caleb Bradley, both Medalist!

5. Seniors who are interested in talking to an admissions counselor from North Central College, Luther College or Monmouth College should see Mrs. Bellows.

6. Sophomores who ordered class rings last year can pick them up Tuesday, September 28th before school in the cafeteria. After that, they will be with Mrs. Loescher.


HOMECOMING ANNOUNCEMENTS

NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

If you want to nominate a person to be on the Homecoming court, please nominate them in the main office.

PEP ASSEMBLY GAMES ANNOUNCEMENT

If you would like to sign up for a pep assembly game, you may do so in the main office. Until the week of Homecoming, you are only allowed to sign up for one game, you may not sign other people up, only yourself. The games are Pack the Car, Ninja Wars, Musical Chairs, and Tug-of-War.

DANCE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Homecoming Dance will be October 2nd. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale this week in the cafeteria. There are no ticket sales the week of Homecoming. Under no circumstances will there be any tickets sold at the door. Repeat, no tickets sold at the door! If you have an out of school or out of town guest, you must get a Dance Guest Pass. You can pick the guest pass up when you buy your ticket or you can find it online at the school’s website. It must be turned into the office the Monday of Homecoming week. If it isn’t handed in, the guest will not be allowed to go. The dance is from 8:00 until 11:30 with the doors opening at 7:30. All students and guests must have id’s. All students and guests must be to the dance by 9:00 or they will not be allowed in. Once you leave, you will not be allowed back into the dance. The announcement of the Homecoming court will be approximately 9:15.

DODGEBALL ANNOUNCEMENT

The annual Homecoming Dodge Ball Tournament will be Wednesday, September 29th at 6:00 in the small gym. There is no fee for playing in the tournament. The number of teams is limited to sixteen, so hurry and sign up in Mr. Eddy’s room, first come, first serve! Each team must have at least 5 boys and 5 girls. The team captain must sign his/her team up along with picking up a rules sheet.

SENIOR SERVANT ANNOUNCEMENT

All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, if you would like to provide your services for a senior, sign up for senior servant day in Mr. Eddy’s room (room 305). First come, first serve. Only 25 people will be allowed to be servants. You are not allowed to sign other people up to be servants. The auction will be Friday, September 24, immediately after school in the cafeteria. (the Friday before Homecoming week). Seniors, bring your money!

SPIRIT DAYS FOR HOMECOMING

Students – Show your school spirit!!! Dress up each day for Homecoming Week.

The days are:
Monday: Hero Day
Tuesday: Twin
Wednesday: Pajama Day
Thursday: Class Color Day: Sr.-red; Jr.-orange; So.-yellow; Fr.-green; Staff-blue
Friday: Purple and White Day

HOMECOMING PARADE

All organizations, clubs, and fall sports are invited to participate in the Homecoming Parade. If you are interested in being a part of the parade, see Jennifer Guenther, Kevin Heath, or Gianna Chacon. For those wanting to see the parade, it begins at 7:30 followed by the bonfire.
