Thought for the Day: The past, the present and the future are really one – they are today.

1. Juniors – Sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT in the Guidance Office. The test will be given October 13th and will cost $16.

2. BLIND will coordinate a food drive this week. Bring in canned food to your 1st hour class. The class with the most cans will win donuts and juice for all!

3. Any boy interested in being on the Swim Team should stop by the Athletic Office.

4. Seniors interested in talking to a representative from LaJanes College of Cosmetology should see Mrs. Bellows in the Counseling Office.

5. Attention Freshmen – Sauk Valley Community College is hosting the ”Work in the Real World Career Conference”. This is an all day conference with lunch provided on November 9th. Space is limited and you must pick up a registration form and permission slip by October 10th and return it by Monday, October 13th. You must be passing 5 classes when you turn in your form. See Mr. Hodson for more information.

6. Attention all Students – The weight room will be open Monday and Wednesday from 2:30-4:00 and Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30. Any questions, see Mr. Burgess.

7. In celebration of the work of Edgar Allen Poe and the 2010 Sauk Valley Reads, Mr. Padilla will be leading several poetry workshops during A lunch and after school. Stop in the library and sign up for a fustian experience. See you October 6th, 13th, or the 20th. Treats and sallies will be furnished.

8. Applications are now being taken for students interested in participating in the SWAP program for winter and spring sports. Applications are available in the Activities Office or online at the District website: www.dixonschools.org and are due back to the Activities Office no later than Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Due to changes made in the application, returning students are also expected to complete a new application and return by October 12th.

9. There will be an informational meeting for any boy interested in being on the Duke Bowling team on Wednesday at 2:20 in the cafeteria. This is for new and returning bowlers.

10.The results are in! This was a very tight race but the class that dressed up the most during Homecoming was the Junior class! Seniors came in a very close second, third goes to the Sophomores and I know the Freshmen class will do better next year. And I can’t forget about the terrific staff – they had some great outfits, too. Thank you all for participating in the dress up days and the many events for homecoming week. Dixon, what’s your color?
