Thought for the Day: Give others the break you hope they will give you.

1. Attention Freshmen – Sauk Valley Community College is hosting the ”Work in the Real World Career Conference”. This is an all day conference with lunch provided on November 9th. Space is limited and you must pick up a registration form and permission slip by October 10th and return it by Friday. You must be passing 5 classes when you turn in your form. See Mr. Hodson for more information.

2. There are two scholarships for minority students. Go to www.chci.org/scholarships/ and www.gmsp.org/ for more information.

3. SWAP applications are due in the Activities Office by Thursday, October 14th. You can pick one up in the Activities office or at www.dixonschools.org . Returning students must complete a new application, also.

4. You may not think of yourself as the answer to someone’s prayer, but every time you donate blood, you are. Every time you donate blood, you help save a person’s life – a mother, a child, a brother. There is no bigger difference you can make in a person’s life than giving them life itself. The hour it takes you to give blood could even save up to three lives. The DHS blood drive is Thursday, October 21st. Please sign up in the nurse’s office. You will NOT be able to sign up to donate the day of the blood drive. All donors must sign up by Tuesday, October 19th. We need all the donors we can get.

Scholastic Bowl - There will be a brief informational meeting for students interested in the scholastic bowl team today at 3:00 p.m. in room 405. If you are interested but cannot make the meeting, see Mr. Padilla.

There will be a meeting for all wrestlers today after school in the wrestling room.

Hey Seniors – If you haven’t signed the display case, your last chance is today right after school and tomorrow from 7:20-7:40 a.m.

If you had your photo taken during retakes, you may pick up your pictures in Mrs. Bally’s room 206A after school today.
