Thought for the Day: There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things.

1. Sauk Valley College will be hosting a College Night on Tuesday, November 2nd from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Over 80 representatives from universities, colleges, technical schools and the military will be available to discuss your educational plans. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain important information. Students should wear college T-shirts on Tuesday!

2. Attention Football Players – If you have equipment to turn in, you can do it today from 2:30-3:00 and Tuesday from 3:05-3:30. Also, if you are planning to attend the banquet on Wednesday, November 3rd at 6:00 p.m. and you have not turned in your money, you must turn it in to Coach Luther in room 212 no later than 2:30 on Tuesday. The cost is $3 per person and players are free.

3. Attention sophomore football players – Please turn in $5 to the sophomore captains (John Thomas or Cameron Hicks).

4. Tennis Girls – Please turn in your number of people attending the tennis banquet, your tennis uniform and your saver cards to Mrs. Bailey in the A.D.’s office.

5. Any boy interested in participating in Track this spring – There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, November 3rd at 2:30 in the west balcony. Even if you are participating in a winter sport, please attend.

6. Congratulations to Josie Willett and Mrs. Karin Miller - Winners of the Culver’s Dixon Pride Award this week. Remember to nominate students and staff you see go above and beyond for DHS.

7.Homecoming pictures are will be available after school outside the main office.

9.There is a scholarship for Latino students sponsored by Twin Cities Educational Scholarship, Inc. Applicants must have at least a 2.00 gpa and parents are expected to assist with fundraisers during the year. Applications are in the G.O.

10. Congratulations to both the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams for qualifying for the state meet with their fourth and second place finishes at the East Peoria Sectional. The teams will run this Saturday at Detweiler Park in Peoria. Good Luck to both teams.

11. Hey DHS – The Dixon Pride Team is announcing that Friday is Winter Wild Spirit Day! We are asking everyone to wear purple and white to show their school spirit. You can wear anything that is in line with the school dress code. You may wear bandanas, hats and sunglasses. Let’s show our school pride and spirit! There will be a pep rally on Friday to honor our outstanding students and introduce upcoming activities and sports. DHS, what’s your color?

12. The Dixon Pride Team is promoting the DHS Fall Play this year. Dracula will be performed November 5th, 6th and 7th. We invite everyone to come out and support our great DHS students. We promise you it will be an enjoyable and wonderful evening. DPT will have a raffle for DPT apparel and items. Turn in your ticket stub or program to the main office. The raffle will be drawn Tuesday, November 9th after school.

13. There will be a boys’ basketball meeting Thursday, November 4th after school.
