Thought for the Day: The unexpected doesn’t always happen, but it happens when you least expect it.

1. There is a scholarship for Latino students sponsored by Twin Cities Educational Scholarship, Inc. Applicants must have at least a 2.00 gpa and parents are expected to assist with fundraisers during the year. Applications are in the G.O. 

2. Hey DHS – The Dixon Pride Team is announcing that Friday is Winter Wild Spirit Day! We are asking everyone to wear purple and white to show their school spirit. You can wear anything that is in line with the school dress code. You may wear bandanas, hats and sunglasses. Let’s show our school pride and spirit! There will be a pep rally on Friday to honor our outstanding students and introduce upcoming activities and sports. We will be on an adjusted schedule for the day and the assembly will follow 7th period. DHS, what’s your color?

3. The Dixon Pride Team is promoting the DHS Fall Play this year. Dracula will be performed November 5th, 6th and 7th. We invite everyone to come out and support our great DHS students. We promise you it will be an enjoyable and wonderful evening. DPT will have a raffle for DPT apparel and items. Turn in your ticket stub or program to the main office. The raffle will be drawn Tuesday, November 9th after school.

4. Any freshman or sophomore girl that is interested and would still like to go out for basketball, please stop by the Athletic Director’s office.

5. Attention Seniors – Please bring your deposit and place your orders for your official graduation announcements on Wednesday, November 10th from 7:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. This is the ONLY day orders can be turned in at school. If you miss it, you will need to mail your order to the address on the order form. 

6 .The American Legion is offering a scholarship for the child or grandchild of a Veteran. Stop by the G.O. for an application.

7. National Honor Society will meet Monday, November 8th at 7:15 in room 127.

8. Varsity volleyball girls – Have your coaches gift money in by Friday. Date night shirts are $11 each. Please turn money in to Maddie, Evanne or Nicole asap.

9. Whiteside Area Vocational Center will be hosting an open house for students and parents on Wednesday, November 10th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

10. Attention all students – Class time is important and so is being on time for class. With that said, DHS will be conducting random tardy sweeps to ensure that all students arrive to class on time. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Ed., Doron Douglas; Driver’s Ed., Ashley Hill; Math, Brandon Hunt; Music, Ben Thornton; P.E., Lindsay Hicks; Science, Steven Sedig; Health, Catherine Weinzrierl; Social Studies, Chris Kooy. The October Elks Teens of the Month are Ben Thornton and Lindsay Hicks.

12.The boys’ basketball meeting will be Friday after school.

13.Hey Everyone! It’s Key Club Week here at DHS this week! So come check out our meeting on Friday at 7:15 in the auditorium. Donuts and juice will be provided afterwards.
