Thought for the Day: You can’t sling mud without losing ground.

1. Seniors who are in the top 10% of their class (a rank of 1- 19) are eligible for the Sauk Scholars Program. Applications are in the G.O.

2. Attention Freshmen – CPR classes will be offered Wednesday, April 6th and Monday, May 16th at 2:30 p.m. and last about 3 hours. Sign up in the G.O.

3. The Jazz Choir and Jazz Band will present “An Evening of Jazz” on Saturday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Come and hear both groups present an evening of music you are sure to enjoy. Tickets are $5 which also includes dessert with ice cream. Tickets are available from any jazz band or jazz choir member. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

4. Dixon Pride wants you to support your fellow students this Saturday by attending the “Evening of Jazz” concert. There will be a box in the main office to place your program in with your name on it for a free Dixon Pride T-shirt. The drawing will be held Tuesday, March 8th. Come on out and enjoy some great entertainment.  

5. National Honor Society will meet Monday at 7:20 a.m. in room 117. This is for all members, old and new inductees!

6. Dance Team try-outs for the 2011-2012 year will be held March 8, 9, 10 in the old gym from 3:00-4:30.

7. Congratulations to the following band students who were selected Big 12 All-Conference Band Fr./So: Joey Hammitt-Clarinet, Kurt Gale-Clarinet, Michael Barth-Bass Clarinet, Kelsey Boll-Alto Saxophone, Thomas Clemens-Baritone Saxophone, Andrew Clark-Trumpet, Tom Whitcombe-Trumpet, Maribeth Johnson-Trombone and Jeremy Harris-Percussion. Big 12 All-Conference Band Jr./Sr: Ellie Drezen-Flute, Alex Barth-Clarinet, Michael Rivera-Alto Saxophone, Brandon Eisele-Tenor Saxophone, Mathew Renne-Trumpet, Austin Dillon- Trumpet, Marcella Flowers-Trombone, Nathaniel Thornton-Baritone and Graham Boll-Percussion. All members will perform in Yorkville on March 15 with musicians selected from the rest of the Big 12 Conference.

8. Anyone interested in cheerleading for the 2011-2012 school year, please stop by the A.D.’s office to pick up a try-out packet.

9. During the month of February close to 3,000 high school students from 146 schools across the state of Illinois voted for the Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book Award and the results are in. The winning book is: The Hunger Games; in second place is Perfect Chemistry; and third place is Graceling. Stop by the library to see the complete list of results. Thanks to the 97 DHS students who read at least 4 books from the list and voted!

The DHS Variety Show is tonight at 7:00 pm. Come support the performers.

F/S Baseball practice today will begin at 3:00, not 2:30.
