Thought for the Day: Doing your best is more important than being the best.

1. Students wanting to sign up for summer’s driver’s ed, may do so in the Guidance Office. Sessions are MWF from 2:30 to 4:30 and 4:30 to 6:30 starting April 4th.. You must be 15 before July 31. Questions, see Mr. Fiorini.

2. The Dixon Petunia Festival is looking for the 2011 Petunia Festival Royalty and Pinky Petunia. Applicants must be a junior and willing to give freely of their time during the 2011 Petunia Festival. Applications are in the Athletic Office and are due April 8th.

3. It's Dodgeball time again! The Spring Dodgeball Tournament will be next Friday March 18th at 6PM. If you are interested in having a team your registration is due by Wednesday, March 16th. The information and registration forms are in the main office. Pick up yours ASAP! And if you aren't interested in playing you can still come and cheer them on. Dixon, what's your color?!

4. Who will wear the crown? The Mr. School competition is Wednesday, April 20th. If you are interested in competing for this acclaimed crown, see Mr. Eddy to sign up. There are only so many spots, so sign up now!

5. B.L.I.N.D. is selling bracelets that say “Be the Change” for $1. See Josie Willett if interested.

6. Prom tickets will continue until April 1st. The cost is $45 per ticket. Only DHS juniors and seniors and their guests are allowed to attend Prom. DHS students must have a minimum of 11 credits and be passing 5 classes to attend. All guests must be juniors, seniors or beyond. No one age 21 or older will be allowed to attend. If you are bringing a guest, you must have a dance guest pass signed and approved before you purchase your ticket.

7. Seniors – Pay close attention to deadlines for scholarships. You must allow time for recommendations and transcripts to be prepared.

8. There is a scholarship for a senior who will be majoring in engineering at a 4 year accredited university. Applications are in the Guidance Office.

9. Congratulation to sophomore - Valbona Jusufi - for winning the Illinois Poetry for the President competition. Her poem has moved on to the state competition where her work will be judged against 6 other pieces of student poetry by Illinois Poet Laureate, Dr. Kevin Stein. Valbona has won a $50.00 Barnes & Noble gift certificate and stands to win an I-Pad from the Illinois Press Association. Good Luck!

10.Wrestlers – Don’t forget to get your money for the coach's gift in to Hannah Blackburn or Blaine Greenwalt.

11.There will not be a B.L.I.N.D. meeting Thursday. If you ordered a shirt but have not received it yet, see Mr. Padilla in room 405 this week.
