Thought for the Day: Don’t scald your tongue on another man’s soup.

1. Congratulations to the DHS Group Interpretation Team that placed 2nd at the IHSA Sectionals over Spring Break. Kevin Heath and Matt Renne received IHSA All- State Group Interpretation medals for being named to the IHSA All-State Team. Great job!

2. Students wanting to sign up for summer’s driver’s ed, may do so in the Guidance Office. Sessions are MWF from 2:30 to 4:30 and 4:30 to 6:30 starting April 4th.. You must be 15 before July 31. Questions, see Mr. Fiorini. 

3. The Dixon Petunia Festival is looking for the 2011 Petunia Festival Royalty and Pinky Petunia. Applicants must be a junior and willing to give freely of their time during the 2011 Petunia Festival. Applications are in the Athletic Office and are due before April 8th.

4. Prom ticket sales will continue until April 1st. The cost is $45 per ticket. Only DHS juniors and seniors and their guests are allowed to attend Prom. DHS students must have a minimum of 11 credits and be passing 5 classes to attend. All guests must be juniors, seniors or beyond. No one age 21 or older will be allowed to attend. If you are bringing a guest, you must have a dance guest pass signed and approved before you purchase your ticket. Prom tickets will be sold after school today, Thursday and Friday.

5. Seniors – Pay close attention to deadlines for scholarships. You must allow time for recommendations and transcripts to be prepared. Local scholarships are now available on our website

6. Detasseling applications for Mr. Ricks and Mr. Randick are available in the Guidance Office. Completed applications can be turned into the main office.

7. All F/S girls basketball players please stop by the Athletic office for banquet information.

8. Any guy interested in competing for Mr. School has until this Friday to sign up with Mr. Eddy. Friday is the deadline!!

9. Senior T-shirt designs are in the main office. Seniors can vote until Thursday and the winner will be announced on Friday.

10.YMCA Lifeguard class begins Thursday, March 31 at 6:00 pm. This is the last training before summer. Enrollment is limited. For more information call the YMCA.

11.There are applications for Bauer Detasseling in the Guidance Office. Stop by and pick one up.

12. There is a scholarship for a boy who will be attending the University of Illinois. Go to www.illinipsiu.com for more information.

13.There will be a National Honor Society meeting at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, April 4th in room 117.

14. Prom Court nominations are currently in the main office. All nominees must attend Prom and have their tickets bought by April 1st. Voting for King and Queen will occur the week of Prom. All nominees must attend DHS.

15.There will be NO BLIND meeting Thursday morning. See Mr. Padilla if you ordered a shirt and did not receive one.

16.A representative of Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be in the Guidance Office at 9:00 Thursday. Interested seniors may sign up in the G.O.
