Thought for the Day: Teachers open the door, but you must enter yourself.

1. Attention Peer Jurors, we will have a hearing on 04/17/2011 at 5:00 p.m. Please come to the Guidance Office to sign up.

2. Check the Jobs Board in the Guidance Office. There are opportunities for detasseling, the Midway Drive-In and yardwork.

3. The Dixon Pride Team is promoting the school musical, Once Upon a Mattress. The DHS Drama Group has put in a lot of work into performing an outstanding musical. So get out and support them by attending the musical on Friday, aturday or Sunday. We are going to have a drawing next week for those who attend the musical. Just turn in your program or ticket stub with your name on it in the box in the main office. So enjoy yourself and take a chance in winning some DPT apparel.

4. Prom table sign-ups are on the bandroom door.

5. Any student attending Prom that will not be attending Post-Prom MUST have a permission slip filled out and turned in by April 20th. Forms are available in the main office.

6. Attention Freshmen –DHS Class rings can be ordered Tuesday, April 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Any upperclassmen that still wish to purchase a class ring may do so at that time.

7. iFlurtz are in! Student Council will be selling them during lunch next week. Cost is $2 each.

8. Make-up MAP testing for Reading will be Monday, April 18th, and make-up MAP testing for math will be Tuesday, April 19. Please check the list posted outside the main office.

9. There are fewer than fifty 2011 yearbooks remaining for purchase. Order yours today before it’s too late. The deadline for ordering your yearbook is Friday, April 2nd. See Mrs. Loescher or go to www.yearbooks.biz . If you want your name stamped on your yearbook, you must order through the website. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Bally.

10.National Honor Society is sponsoring a Green Week from Monday, April 18th to Wednesday, April 20th. Monday is Bring a Reuseable Water Bottle Day, Tuesday is Save the Trees Day and Wednesday is Lights Out Day.

11 All students: As the weather becomes warmer, here are a few reminders of the DHS Dress Code which students need to follow:
1. Halter tops, strapless/tube tops, one shoulder tops and spaghetti straps are not allowed.
2. Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. Slippers are not permitted.
3. All shirts/tops must meet or fall below the waistband of the student's pants.
4. All tank tops must have straps that are at least the width of two adult fingers (One inch or greater)
5. Shorts must have an inseam of at least 3 inches (the length of a standard ID card)
6. Dresses and skirts must be mid-thigh length or longer.
7. No undergarments should be visible at any time.
8. No midsections should be visible at any time.

12. Who will wear the crown? The Mr. School competition is this Wednesday, April 20th at 6:00 in the auditorium. Ricky Laskowski, Tyler Newman, Ben Thornton, Nate Thornton, and Alejandro Valdes will be escorted by beautiful ladies as they answer a surprise question, show their school spirit, display a hidden talent, and new this year is a trivia portion. You won’t want to miss it!  Watch, laugh, and have a good time!  The cost is $2 with a school id and $3 without a school id. Fellas, don't forget to get fitted for your tux by this Wednesday at Sauk Valley Cleaners!

13.Attention Girls Basketball Players - There will be a meeting on Wednesday, April 20th at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria for any girls interested in playing basketball next year. Coach Ravlin will be here to talk with players and parents about the upcoming basketball season.


TODAY

There will be a brief meeting today after school at 2:30 in the Big Gym for all boys interested in playing Basketball next year. Coach LaReau, the new boys’ basketball coach will be here to meet with players. If you cannot attend, please stop by the Athletic Directors office.

Girls soccer practice tonight is cancelled.
