Congratulations Michael Barth! May Student of the Month!

1. Want to be a class officer? Sign-up sheets are available in the main office and must be returned by May 10th. There will be a mandatory meeting for all candidates on Tuesday, May 14th at 7:15 a.m. If you have any questions, see Alex Faivre.

2. Attention students that have signed up to detassel for Mr Ricks and Mr Randick this summer  - There will be a meeting Thursday,  May 9th at Reagan. The meeting begins at 5:30 P.M. and please enter through door #6.

3. There are detasseling forms for Mr. Johnson and Mr. Bach in the Guidance Office.

4. The Senior Leadership Scholarship is available online. It is sponsored by Mr. Boll and Class Officers, and Mr. Eddy and Student Council. The deadline is May 16th.

5. YOUTH CENTER- Students interested in helping to discuss and create a Dixon Youth Center should come to Loveland Community Center May 13th at 7 pm for an informational meeting.  We need support for this center from our local youth, so tell a friend and be there.

6. All Students – Now that the weather is warming up, you are reminded to follow the DHS dress code. All shirts and tops must have straps and cover the abdomen, and shorts and skirts must reach fingertip length on the leg..

7. Dixon Public Schools is now taking applications for SWAP (Student Worker Assistance Program) for summer 2013 work.  SWAP allows students to work off their athletic fees by working various maintenance, custodial, and summer school jobs throughout the district.  SWAP applications can be picked up and dropped off starting Friday, May 3rd in Dr. Grady’s Office or the Athletic Office. SWAP applications can also be downloaded online at  www.dixonschools.org . The due date for SWAP applications is 4 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013. Any applications received after this date will be put on our waiting list, and are not guaranteed work during the summer. There will be a student and parent informational meeting on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the DHS auditorium.    This meeting is mandatory for incoming freshman and students new to the SWAP program. It is recommended for those returning to the program.

8. All students who signed up to take an AP Course or an Honors English Course for the 2013-2014 school year and their parents, are invited to attend an important informational meeting on Monday, May 13th at 6:00 PM in the DHS Cafeteria. Teachers will explain what the course involves and hand out the summer assignments and also answer questions about the courses. The meeting should not last much more than an hour. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Hodson.

9. Students will not be allowed to charge lunches in the cafeteria beginning Monday. Students with a negative balance must pay it off as soon as possible.

10.SENIORS: If you have earned Final Exam Exemptions and did not use them all first semester you need to let Mrs. Bellows know in the Guidance Office which exam or exams you want to exempt this semester. You have until Thursday, May 16th to let her know.

11.The high school band and jazz band will perform their Spring Awards Concert on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium.  Come and listen as the band performs it's last time with this year's seniors.

12. LEE COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE – The Lee County Republican Party is offering two scholarships in the amount of $1000 and two scholarships in the amount of $500 to students who reside in Lee County. Students must be accepted to the University of their choice as a full-time student. Applications are available in the GO and the deadline is June 14, 2013.

13. There are a limited number of 2013 yearbooks left to be sold. See Mrs. Bally or Mrs. Loescher as soon as possible. Yearbooks are $50 and will be delivered the week of May 20.

14. If you are interested in attending the Rural Health Careers Camp at Rockford College, June 26th - June 28th see Mrs. Ebert in the GO to pick up an application. The camp is open to Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior students. Approximately 45 students will be chosen for this opportunity. The cost for the camp is $50.

3. American Red Cross will be here one more time. The blood drive will be Friday, May 10th. This is a great way to save a life! Please sign up in the nurse’s office by Wednesday, May 8th.  You will not be able to sign up to donate after this date!
