The students of Dixon High School will show off their talent on Friday night, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium when the Class Officers present their annual "Variety Show".  There are over 20 great acts including singing, dancing, and entertaining.  Don't miss this show!  Admission is $5.00. Children under 10 are free.
 
DHS Math Team Wins 1st Place Print

The Dixon High School Math Team competed in the ICTM 2012 Regional Math Contest held at Rockford College on February 25th.  The team, comprised of Molly Fane, Kayla McGuire, Scott Goad, Kevin Heath, and Christopher Gale, won 1st place in "The Calculator Team" contest.  Dixon's Molly Fane also took 5th place in the Algebra I division and Kevin Heath took 1st place in the Pre-Calc division.  The team is advancing to the State Competition as well the two individual winners.

Their sponsor is Jessica Anderson.

Congratulation to the Dixon High School band students who were selected for all-conference:

Big 12 All-Conference Freshman/Sophomore Band. Tom Whitcombe-Trumpet, Andrew Clark-Trumpet, Samantha Riggin-Clarinet, Rachel Turffs-Clarinet, Rachel Gascoigne-Clarinet, Matt Sanders-Bass Clacinet, Maggie Bushman-Alto Saxophone, Jacob Harrison-French Horn, Maribeth Johnson-Trombone. All-Conference Junior/Senior Band. Ellie Drezen-Piccolo, Joey Hammitt-Clarinet, Kurt Gale-Clarinet, Michael Rivera-Alto Saxophone, Thomas Clemens-Baritone Saxophone, Alicia Brown-Trumpet, Austin Dillon-French Horn, Ian Schielein-French Horn. Performance will be in LaSalle on March 13.2012.
 
Black History Bookmark Contest Print

The DHS Library held a bookmark contest in honor of Black History Month. The contest asked students to create a bookmark that pays tribute to Black History Month or represents something from Black History.  There were 27 entries into the contest and all the entries are on display in the DHS library. Katy Demko was the winner and she received a Subway gift card. Her bookmark was also reproduced and is being distributed to library patrons.
