February 3rd was the 100th day of school! Can you believe it?!?! Over 100 days of school already this year?!?!  Well, Washington School kindergartners and 1st graders celebrated the 100th day of school with many exciting activities! Some of those activities included designing hats decorated with "100" objects, marshmallow counting and building, "100 Day's Smarter" headbands, 100 day art,  self portraits of themselves at 100 years old using construction paper, scissors and glue, and some teachers and students dressed up as 100 year old men and women.

Hundreds Day BalloonLaunchOn Friday, February 3, 2012, second grade students at Lincoln Elementary School enjoyed celebrating the 100th Day of School. As part of the celebration 100 helium-filled balloons were released shortly after lunch by both teachers and students. Filled and delivered to the school by Snyder’s Pharmacy of Dixon, the release of the balloons was covered by WIXN Radio with the story broadcast on the radio and posted on their website. Each balloon was tagged with a message requesting any finder to call the school with the tag’s special code.

In addition to the balloon launch, both third grade classes and second grade classes prepared for the big day by producing art projects, completing lessons, and participating in classroom discussions centering on elements relating to the number 100.

Upon return to the classroom following the Super Bowl weekend, Lincoln School faculty and students were informed that a balloon was found approximately 3-1/2 hours away by an individual in the state of Michigan.
