On Friday, February 3, 2012, second grade students at Lincoln Elementary School enjoyed celebrating the 100^th Day of School. As part of the celebration 100 helium-filled balloons were released shortly after lunch by both teachers and students. Filled and delivered to the school by Snyder’s Pharmacy of Dixon, the release of the balloons was covered by WIXN Radio with the story broadcast on the radio and posted on their website. Each balloon was tagged with a message requesting any finder to call the school with the tag’s special code.

In addition to the balloon launch, both third grade classes and second grade classes prepared for the big day by producing art projects, completing lessons, and participating in classroom discussions centering on elements relating to the number 100.

Upon return to the classroom following the Super Bowl weekend, Lincoln School faculty and students were informed that a balloon was found approximately 3-1/2 hours away by an individual in the state of Michigan.
