EIGHTH GRADERS AND THEIR PARENTS
GRADUATION AND DANCE GUIDELINES
June 3, 2011

GRADUATION

1.    Graduation will be held in Lancaster Gymnasium at D.H.S. at 6:30 P.M. followed by an eighth grade dance at Reagan Middle School on FRIDAY, June 3rd.  There is no admittance fee for graduation.
2.     Students should be present in the Dixon High School old gym no later than 6:10.
3.      Eighth grade students who are eligible for promotion may participate in the ceremony.  Those being retained or attending summer school may not attend the dance.  Parents will be notified of any retentions.  If students choose to misbehave at school before graduation, they may not be allowed to go through the graduation ceremony / dance at the discretion of the administration. 4.      Girls
*shall wear dresses or dress slacks.  
*will have dresses no shorter than 2 inches above the knee
*NO formals.  
*NO strapless gowns.  
*shall wear dress shoes.
*NO tennis shoes.
*NO flip flops are allowed.  

5.      Boys
*shall wear dress slacks and a button down shirt.
*A tie and suit are also allowed .  
*NO tuxedos.          
*shall wear dress shoes.
*NO tennis shoes.
*NO sandals.
*NO flip flops.
If the dress apparel is not appropriate, the student will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony and dance. Please bring pictures or the actual outfit to the office for a preview ahead of time to eliminate any concerns.

6.      The graduation ceremony is a formal ceremony.  
*NO whistling, cheering, or shouting is permitted.  
*NO gum chewing or snacking is permitted.

7.      Photographs - Reagan School will designate a spot for photographs to be taken up front.  


8.      During the recessional, all guests of the graduates should honor the graduates by standing and remain at their seats until all the graduates have exited.  Pick a spot away from lobby to meet your parents.



DANCE

1.  The 8th grade dance follows at 7:30 in the Reagan Middle School Cafeteria. A student drop off area will be manned by parents.

2.  Only Reagan Middle School 8th graders will be permitted to attend the dance.  Parents can park in the back parking lot and come inside if they wish.  There will be parking attendants to direct traffic.  

3.  Dress code for the dance is the same as for the graduation ceremony.

4.  We are requesting that parents pay a $10.00 fee to offset the cost of the dance activities/refreshments; this fee is non-refundable. Please turn these into your 8th hour teacher by Friday, March 11th.

5.  Only 8th grade students and parents who chaperone will be permitted in the cafeteria area.  No students will be allowed on the balcony.  THERE WILL BE FOOD AND DRINKS AT NO COST TO STUDENTS.  

6.  The dance will end promptly at 10:00 P.M.  After the dance, students will be dismissed at the rear of the Madison wing. Door 16. PARKING ATTENDANTS WILL BE AVAILABLE.

7.  Jim Grot from “Grot Imaging Studio” will be taking pictures at the dance. Pictures will vary from package to package and must be paid for on the spot-students will also leave the dance with pictures in hand.


PLEASE RETURN THIS SHEET ALONG WITH YOUR $10.00 DANCE  FEE TO YOUR 8th Hour TEACHER

You will need to initial 3 Times and Sign at the end
