Congratulations to the following students for being chosen through an audition process to participate in the IMEA District 8 Music Festival in DeKalb on November 19th. Katlyn Bay, soprano; Katie Hammitt, trumpet; Patrick Johnson, tuba; and Renata Young, flute.

The following 6th grade students were chosen through nominations to participate in the IMEA District 8 JEM Festival in Rochelle on November 5th. Choir members: Samantha Burke, Amber Cooper, Hannah Garland, Ariealle Jones, Jessica Lucas, Madison Miniel, Lexie Newman, Maggie Scarbrough, Mary Shuda, Tyler Tribley, Haley Verdick, Arianna Wells, and Mackinsey Zitelman will all participate in the Children's Chorus. Band members Stephanie Hale and Joel Lemmert will be participating in the African Drumming Ensemble.

The cross country team wrapped up their season with an exciting trip to the state meet on Saturday. Running for the boys was Owen Van Horn who placed 86th out of 259 runners. The girls' team placed 21st out of the 30 teams that competed, with many of the girls receiving their personal best time. Way to go RMS runners!

(Rehearsals will typically end at 4:45)

Cross Country Award Banquet - Thursday, October 20, 5:30 pm in the RMS cafeteria for all athletes and their parents.

Attention all 8th grade students! There will be an informational meeting regarding the Washington, DC trip on Thursday, October 20th at 6:30pm in rm. 123/124 (not the cafeteria). Please plan on attending. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Renkes in rm. 139

Any student looking for advice can write a letter to "Dear Scarlett" and drop it off in the colorful box located in the office window. Your letter might be chosen to be published in The Patriot Post with a reply from Scarlett, our resident advice columnist.

Celebrate Teen Read Week at the Dixon Public Library today through October 22nd. Anyone between the ages of 13 and 19 may fill out one entry ticket for each item checked out for the chance to win a prize. You just need a valid library card.
