In an attempt to expand our volunteer community and bring working organizations together, Elementary and Reagan Middle School PTOs will be combining for the 2012-2013 school year. The 2012-2013 school year will be used as an attempt to smoothly transition into one working Dixon Schools PTO. PTO is an organization made up of parents, teachers, and administrators. The organization raises money through a fall and spring fundraiser to help the Dixon Public Schools fund various needs, such as field trips, assemblies, guest speakers, Smart Boards and technology, special events, PBIS incentives, and P.E. equipment, just to name a few! Meetings are also used to discuss topics and to provide information concerning each school. Please attend our! next meeting on May 20, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Washington School to hear the exciting details of the bringing together of these two valuable organizations. If you have any questions, please contact your building principal.

Reagan Middle School 8th grade Art students create hallway ceiling tiles for “Hall 16” and for classroom teachers during third quarter art.
Creating ceiling tiles for the hallways at Washington, Jefferson, and Reagan Middle School has been my passion. I know that when students create art which enhances their school environment, it inspires a sense of ownership and pride for their school community. Every time they see their art exhibited they are reminded about the effort and learning that took place. They remember that art is created to be looked at.

The University of Illinois College of Education newsletter has recognized the Globalization Project in Mrs. Kitzman's Challenge social studies class.

"Tracy Kitzman, a Global Studies in Education Online graduate, recently implemented her capstone project from the program, a paper she authored for EPS 590 titled "Conceptualizing Poverty in the Educational Setting: A Student Response to Local and Global Poverty." Her paper focused on the devastating effects of chronic poverty both locally and globally and argued that teachers must educate their students concerning this national and international humanitarian issue"
