The PSAE is the state achievement test for all grade 11 public high school students. Current legislation requires that all students take the PSAE to receive a regular high school diploma.

This year we will be testing on Tuesday 4-23 and Wednesday 4-24. We will be testing over three academic subjects: reading, mathematics, and science. We will also be adding a fourth test on 4-24 that will be about locating information which can earn students a Career Readiness Certificate from ACT.

Read a Lincoln – Win a Lincoln Print

Dixon High School students, Justin and Jesse, each won $5 in either February or March in a DHS Library promotional called “Read a Lincoln – Win a Lincoln”.  The drawing encouraged participation in the Illinois High School Readers’ Choice Award for 2013.  Dixon High School students who read four or more books on the 2013 Abraham Lincoln Award list voted for their favorite book last week and their votes were sent in to the Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) for a state tally.  The state winner will be announced on March 22nd.  At DHS the winning book was Thirteen Reasons Why, with The Help coming in second.  Every time a student read one of the books on the Abraham Lincoln list they could put their name on a ticket for a chance at the monthly $5 drawing.  An annotated list of the titles nominated for the 2013 Abraham Lincoln Award may be found at the DHS Library website at http://dixonhighschoollibrary.weebly.com/.  (Scroll down the page titled “NoodleTools Power Points +”)
