The Lee County Health Department has a limited supply of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis) vaccine that is being offered to interested residents.  The cost is $15; Medicaid is also accepted.  The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) recommends this vaccine for anyone 10 years and older who have not already received a dose, especially those having contact with an infant under 1 year of age.  It is also recommended for healthcare personnel of all ages. There is no minimum interval from a person’s last tetanus shot.

There have been 10 reported cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in Lee County this year.  The disease can be fatal; and is particularly dangerous for infants.  If interested in the Tdap vaccine, please call 284-3371 to schedule an appointment or for additional information.

On Thursday, October 27th, Lincoln School's gym was taken over by Medieval Times. Lincoln School hosted another Family Fun Night put on by the Discovery Center of Rockford. Science Guy, Christopher Bernd, provided an assortment of Medieval Science activities for students and their parents to participate in.

Students launched a variety of catapults, constructed a castle, swung a sword, tested the strength of a knight's armor, and much more as they took a trip back in time and explored the science of long ago! We had 110 students with their parents attend this fun filled night. There were raffles for both students and their parents, so both young and old were able to try for a chance to win some great prizes. Lincoln School is proud to host these Family Fun Nights, and will be hosting another one in April.  If you were not able to attend this one, you can try for the one in the spring! More fun SCIENCE to come!
